If you're looking for a low maintenance pied a terre in the south of France this prestige studio apartment may interest you. It's on the 2nd (top floor) floor of a beautifully restored maison de maitre in Olonzac in the Minervois.
55 m2 of living space includes a 35 m2 living room with an alcove that you could curtain off for a double bed. There's an archway to the 20 m2 fully fitted kitchen and also a shower room and separate WC. Use of the swimming pool and grounds come with the apartment.
The maison de maitre has been very well restored/renovated to preserve the original features. The result - 9 beautiful apartments. The interiors were designed by Calgary heritage architect Lorne Simpson, known for his work on historic buildings.
Olonzac is a lovely wine producing town with all amenities. The Tuesday open air market is held year round. There are cafes and restaurants in Olonzac and in Homps on the Canal du Midi. Homps is only a couple of minutes away. It's about 30 minutes to Carcassonne, Narbonne, and the Mediterranean beaches. A new 18 hole golf course is due to open in 2008 and is about 5 minutes away. There's also a recreational lake about 10 minutes away.
The apartment has very good potential as a vacation rental because there aren't many charming studios available in the area.
Charm, prestige, low maintenance, great location. Definitely worth a visit. |
