When the French talk about a house being 'dans son jus' they mean that it hasn't been messed around with, no bad renovations to redo. Renovations, yes, but with a clean slate.
This is a big, charming village house with a large roof terrace. "Dans son jus" It's big, 120 m2 on 3 levels - 360 m2 - including ground floor cellars, 50 m2 of which can be converted.
The first floor has a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and a 50m2 billiard room with a separate entrance.
The second floor has 4 bedrooms, a hall, and a 40 m2 terrace.
There are three entrances so you could make apartments if you wanted to. The house is habitable but it does need work. The roof is old so you'd be wise to have it inspected. The electrics and plumbing need to be upgraded and the house needs decorating. Everything is original, floor tiles, stairs, door and windows, so you can preserve the charm.
St Jean de Barrou is a charming little village in the Corbieres, about half an hour from the Mediterranean beaches, Narbonne, and Perpignan. |
